Lovely speaking with you today! Thanks in advance for taking the time to look this over. I’m cc’ing Erin Feniger, the managing partner of Buzz Creative Group-the company responsible for developing the fantastic event that I’m thrilled to tell you more about. Hopefully we can work together on this and raise money for a great cause. I wanted to give you more information on the charity and the event itself. The event is a highly publicized celebrity fundraiser, Cool Comedy - Hot Cuisine, and the cause is Scleroderma Research.
Scleroderma is a debilitating, degenerative disease of the connective tissues, often attacking the internal organs with life-threatening consequences. It strikes hundreds of thousands of people around the world -more people than muscular dystrophy and as many as multiple sclerosis. Too many lives are being taken and the critical funds needed for medical research are sorely lacking. The Scleroderma Research Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to raising funds to help improve treatments and, ultimately, find a cure.
Cool Comedy - Hot Cuisine is the Foundation’s single most successful fundraising and public awareness tool. The “cool comedy” portion of the evening spotlights performances from some of the world’s most celebrated comedians and musical guests, including Jon Stewart, Sheryl Crow, Ellen DeGeneres, Robin Williams, Ray Romano and many others. The “hot cuisine” is donated every year by celebrity chefs Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken, the Food Network’s Too Hot Tamales.
Guests attending this event include stars from the worlds of business, television, film, sports and music. Each supporter is an affluent individual or company - many paying $1,000 per seat, with some contributing $25,000 or more for a table of ten.
Our next event is scheduled for November 2009. As you might surmise, a high percentage of the funds raised are derived from a few exclusive high-ticket auction packages, during a ‘lively’ auction traditionally hosted by actor/comedian and SRF Board Member Bob Saget. Often times, the packages raise upwards of $25,000 each. Due the exclusive nature of this event, we try to develop unique experiences that aren’t easily purchased through regular channels. Two of our board members who are actively involved in the planning process are NBC Universal’s Jeff and Caryn Zucker, who championed the idea of a NYC Makeover Package. This entails driving around town with Celebrity Stylist David Evangelista and our winning bidder, and heading to various fashion showrooms and salons for a makeover. Obviously, a car and driver is necessary to make this package work!
Russell, we’d be thrilled if you would consider donating a car and driver for the winning bidder of this fantastic NYC Makeover Auction package.
I am hopeful that you will join forces with us so we can make this package truly unforgettable and high-end! This will undoubtedly be one of the premier packages of the evening, raising a lot of attention to the captive audience of extremely influential and affluent guests. We also have other packages that are NYC-centric that would require a car and driver as well, so if you’re interested in being a part of more than one auction package, that would be great!

In appreciation of your generosity, the Foundation would be pleased to offer on-screen exposure on two giant display screens and recognition in the commemorative program book. I hope you can help us introduce ABC NYC Limo to some very affluent guests, while simultaneously supporting critical medical research. This event is highly publicized and garners a tremendous amount of attention from all outlets of media. We will also be happy to provide you with a letter in advance of the event detailing your gracious donation, and a letter after the event thanking you for your participation. We will also speak to Bob Saget & David Evangelista about possibly mentioning you on their facebook pages. The event itself does not have a website, however we will speak to the foundation about getting your company name on the Scleroderma Foundation website when their new site is up and running.
Thank you in advance for helping to support this night of culinary delights and world-class comedy to benefit a very worthy cause. There is currently no cure for scleroderma. However, thanks to the generosity of people like you, all funds raised will support cutting-edge research at leading medical institutions and, ultimately, will help to save hundreds of thousands of lives.
